Ingredients

  • 1 c Crisco
  • 2 c sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 c flour
  • 4 t baking powder
  • ½ t salt
  • 3 T milk
  • 2 t vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream Crisco and sugar.
  2. Add well-beaten eggs.
  3. Sift the baking powder, flour, salt.
  4. Add some of the dry ingredients to the mixture.
  5. Alternate dry with milk and vanilla.
  6. Add more flour if dough is too thin or sticky to roll nicely.
  7. Typically, put dough if fridge overnight.
  8. Remove from fridge and let warm before attempting to roll out.
  9. Preheat oven to 350.
  10. Roll out dough on a pastry matt or counter, lightly floured, until approximately ¼in thick.
  11. Cut shapes as desired, place on backing sheet.
  12. Bake at 350 °F for 10 – 15 minutes, remove when edges start to brown.
  13. Allow to cool completely on racks before icing.
