Chocolate Sheet Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 2 c sugar
- 2 c flour
- ½ t baking soda
- ½ t salt
- 2 sticks oleo
- 4 T cocoa
- 1 c water
- ½ c buttermilk
- 1 t vanilla
- 2 eggs
Frosting
- 1 stick butter
- 2 T cocoa
- 6 T buttermilk
- 1 box (approximately 3.5 cups)powdered sugar
Instructions
Cake
- Preheat oven to 350 °F, adjust rack to middle position.
- In a mixing bowl, sift together the sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a pan over medium heat, melt butter and add cocoa and water. Bring to a boil.
- After wet ingredients come to a rapid boil, pour over dry ingredients.
- Add the buttermilk, vanilla, and eggs.
- Beat all ingredients together until thoroughly mixed.
- Spray cookie sheet with Pam.
- Pour mix into pan.
- Bake for 15 – 20 minutes, watch for edges to pull away from pan.
- Let the cake cool some.
Frosting
- In a pan over medium heat, melt butter.
- Add cocoa and buttermilk, bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla, and chopped pecans.
- Spread over cake while the frosting is hot.
Serving Instructions
Allow cake to cool completely before serving. You can put in the fridge to cool. Store covered.
