Ingredients

  • 2 ½ c sugar
  • ¾ c shortening
  • 5 Eggs
  • 5 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 4 ¾ c sifted flour
  • 2 ½ t salt
  • ½ t baking soda
  • 3 t baking powder
  • ¾ c nuts
  • ¾ c milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 °F, place rack in middle of oven.
  2. Grease two 5x9 loaf pans or four small loaf pans.
  3. In a mixer, cream sugar and shortening together until light in color and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and bananas and mix well.
  5. Blend in flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and nuts.
  6. Add milk, mix until all ingredients are combined.
  7. Pour into prepaed loaf pans.
  8. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean and tops are browned.
